As the subject asks, I have issue #1 of CPC464 User magazine from 1984 (in mint condition) and never thought to ask about its value since I never assumed it would be worth much. However, a friend of mine recently pointed out that the first issue was never made available to the public and only to those in the Amstrad fan club making it even rarer than later issues.

So, how much would issue #1 be worth to a private collector and do you think it's worth selling or hanging onto for a few more years?

Hello mate,

First of all, welcome!

I'm afraid it's not worth too much. Of course it depends on how you define "much", but I don't see it going over, say, ten quid or so. Yes it may be rare, but demand is not that high that someone would pay serious money for it...

Of course some times we've seen crazy amounts of money changing hands, but I don't think this would be one of them!

Thanks for the quick reply. I kinda guessed at a tenner but having no idea of the value I thought I'd best ask for another opinion. Having found this forum, I'll probably more active as I'm a keen collector of CPC464 memorabilia with about 200-300 games for mine, and always enjoying talking about some of old favourites.

You're in good company then :)

Fortunately for us most Amstrad memorabilia do not fetch high prices, and you can build a nice collection (as you already know) without selling your house and wife for it.

Again: welcome :)

Btw, I don't think we've got this scanned... would you be interested in doing it?

The correct order of doing this:

1. Scan it, do not tell anyone  :P
2. Sell it
3. Make it available online a few months later

Ahhh duh... I didn't realise that was the one!!!

Ynot.zer0

that just saved me a tenner on ebay  ;D    (although I wouldn't mind a real hard copy version to go with the rest of my collection....)
