Hello all

I have only recently discovered Amstrad computers so it seemed like a good place to register. Plus 1024MAK over on the Stardot forum suggested it!

My first computer was a ZX81 (currently sat in its box a few feet away from me), then I moved on to a 16K Spectrum (light grey key model, most likely an issue two in an issue one case I'm told as it came in retail packaging not a brown postal box) and then a BBC Model B. Then the wilderness years before PCs became ubiquitous. I didn't have a Amstrad back then. My friend had a 464 but if I am being honest I did not take it too seriously as a computer (the colourful keys and awful Spectrum ported games that I saw it running) until I saw Sorcery running on it. Very impressive. Sadly at that point I also discovered girls and then alcohol so no more computers for a good while!

Six years ago I was at The Gadget Show at the NEC and saw a Beeb running Chuckie Egg. I had a go and had bought one within a few weeks. I now have a retro collection including several beebs, a number (unknown) of ZX81s, Spectrums, Atari 800, 800xl and ST, Tatung Einstein, C64 (breadbin) and quite recently a CPC6128.

Having bought an external gotek and downloaded some games for the CPC I feel like I missed out on a great computer. Orion Prime is amazing for an 8 bit computer as is Shadows of Sergoth.

Hey there! Welcome to the forum!

I'm sorry to hear ladies and booze have kept you away for so long!!! I'm glad you've finally had chance to enjoy the CPC!

We too had a ZX81, but we never had a BBC, from what I've seen of it recently it's a great 6502 system, though I personally prefer the CPC.

Your retro collection sounds pretty expansive - I'm quite jealous!
Chibi Akumas: Comedy-Horror 8-bit Bullet Hell shooter!
