Title: New User Here!
Post by: keith56 on 04:38, 20 September 16

Hello, Thought I'd get round to signing up and saying hello!

I grew up programming the CPC464, which was my first computer, and did a lot of Basic programming back then around the age 8-12

While the old 484 is long gone I got my hands on a 6128 with SD disk drive conversion a few years ago so I still have some "real" hardware to play with

Over the last month or so, I've been getting into doing some Assembly game programming (via Winape's superb assembler), which I have been really enjoying!

Your website is really superb, and along with a few other great sites have been completely invaluable the programming I've been doing.

A big thank you for all the work that has been put into this site, its really invigorated my enthusiasm for the system after over 20 years!!!

I'll probably ask some questions when I get stuck on my developing  , so please bear with me if I ask anything really stupid

Thanks,

Keith

Greetings, did any of your BASIC programs make it into any Magazines by any chance?

Exactly what it is, a Hardware Add-on to let you read from an SD Card from your CPC.  :D

Couldn't remember the name of it earlier.
I think It's the "SD HxC Floppy Emulator REV C" (its certainly that brand, though it may be an earlier model

Its in the case, in the place the FDD should be.

I do have a 6128 Plus which has an original drive still, I would like to get some kind of SD card add on for it (Maybe external?) as I want to use the Plus sprites
I'm open to suggestions on that one!

No, I can assure you nothing I wrote ever made it to a magazine, I only wrote a few small games for my own amusement and the like,

I often got old computers from my Dad as he upgraded, so I moved to the PC when I was about 12-13, I don't think anything I did on the CPC would have been accepted by a magazine!

You can get a specific gotek clone with the hxc firmware in a 3 inch chassis that slots straight into the plus. I have one in mine. *BUT* on my 2 they needed some light rewiring to work properly as in default configuration they will always report the same disk image as both drive a and b.

The fix is easy enough if you know one end of a soldering iron from the other.
