Title: Prices of CPC's just 7 years ago...
Post by: banana on 12:51, 30 June 21
I love it when LGR says you can get them for $35 to $100 depending on what they came with. It made me laugh  ;D , how things have changed! Look at ebay prices today, it's another world!

I recently bought some storage space to display my collection and arrange a little playroom. Maybe I can sell my CPCs to fund it :D

I have the impression that prices on Ebay.de dropped again slightly over the last months. If they reach top prices then they are usually collectors items, or in very good condition or with a lot of stuff.

But even with the prices that we have today, it's still a pretty cheap hobby compared to other "typical" hobbies. A middle class mobile phone is still much more expensive than a decent CPC setup.

That's a good point, but comparing the prices from 7 years ago, it looks like they have sky rocketed.

I am doing "Λούφα" today from work and looking at old prices for the CPC range. I also realized there is no exact translation from the Greek word Λούφα.

I think it's 'loafing' actually...

loafing like loaf of bread. Strange, I have never heard of this term.

I got my 464 in 2015, via eBay but it was local collection only, and still it wasn't the prices some people were mentioning around here (even with manual and color monitor). And don't get me wrong, I wish I had found a 6128 around the price "suggested" here.

So I guess YMMV.

But don't look after a 6128.

The price difference imho is much less than the "value" you get by going for the 6128. You can get working ones between 80 and 150€, of course often with a broken drive belt. So for just approx. 50€ more you get enough RAM, a floppy controller and maybe even a floppy drive and a more convenient keyboard. Imho the 464 is only worth looking for if you love to wait 10 minutes for games to load and listen to the beeps of the bits on tape.

The Plus then again is a bit a different story as they are so rare.

I paid £2 for my current 464 in 2010 (i miss car boot sales). any way I look at it, they've skyrocketed far higher than anything I can afford today.

It looks like they are becoming rarer as months go by, as well as more expensive. Now run that by ebay.co.uk and the prices sky rocket, or even just use regular ebay.com prices.

Maybe just a temporary run for it.
