Title: pride/goldmark and their "instructions" of how to copy games from tape/disc
Post by: arnoldemu on 19:37, 30 October 12
I can't remember if it was Pride Utilities or Goldmark.
But I remember contacting them about transfering games to disc.
It may have been Goldmark because of Speedtrans, but I think Transmat was also used.

I remember getting a printed document which explained how to use their tools, and some other programs that would be typed in. When the instructions were followed it would create a disc based version of a tape based game. I specifically remember R-Type being one of them. The instructions were quite professionally done, printed with a dot matrix printer, but well done.

So you would use one of their utilties to transfer the main file, then use some code to dump the levels and some code to patch it to load.

Anyone else remember these?

I am sure it was advertised in old Amstrad Actions.

I now wish I had kept one of these documents :(

looking at the wiki it may have been more of the "information exchange" they did.
I think goldmark did something similar.

I think I asked this question before... my poor brain.

So I googled, does anyone have any of these goldmark books that are mentioned in the adverts?

Once you had bought Transmat and signed up to their newsletter they would send you instructions on how to copy the more challenging games to disk. Often it did not include even using Transmat but typing in a Basic prog to achieve the copy (ie define an array in RAM to accomodate the data then dump to disc).
