Hello everyone!

My name is Jorge (Spain), I've just registered here. I remember that great 1986 Xmas when my parents gave me a fantastic CPC 464 + Colour monitor. What a great discovery. During next years I spent really good times with my new friend. I remember a lot of good titles and companies (Code Masters, Hewson, Palace Software, Dinamic, Opera...) and I even made some programs in Basic.

After a long time aside from CPC world I've decided to return: I've just recently bought a CPC 464+, a really beatiful computer. Now I'm looking for a M4 board in order to resurrect it and enjoy completely my new purchase.

I like to program too, actually I'm making a game for MSX and hey, who knows, perhaps soon I'll try something in CPC too  ;) .

See you here folks!

Thanks rob, I'm sure  ;) . In Spain CPC was the best selling computer, even overtaking Spectrum (as far as I know, in France CPC was the best selling computer too). I had both, CPC and MSX and I felt really privileged of having 2 of the best computers ever made.

I hope to enjoy this comunity and my return to CPC world  :)

Hey there and welcome!

You say you have a 464 PLUS? - then maybe the C4CPC is worth considering too - it's emulates GX4000 cartridges, and  allows the Parados firware - and many regular disk games have been converted for it!

That said, My CPC game doesn't work on C4CPC, but does work on M4 - so perhaps I shouldn't say that!

Please tell me more about your MSX project! I have an MSX1 but have not tried to develop for it (well technically I have an MSX2 as well - but it has no PSU!!)

Good day Keith, I'm on my way to get a M4 board, I think it's the most interesting device  :) . I'll take a look to C4CPC anyway.

Our project (we are a 4 person team, Bit Knights) is really for MSX2, is an ambitious Metroid-like game (adventure-exploring) and we are under development. Here goes a link to the new, sorry it's in spanish; http://www.msxblog.es/giles-odyssey-juego-para-msx2-en-desarrollo/

Wow that looks nice - I see what you meant by ambitious! fortunately the pictures aren't in Spanish  :D

I'm not too familiar with the old MSX'es, but I kind of get the impression the MSX2 has good hardware sprites so is kind of comparable to the NES, whereas the MSX does not so is more like a CPC

maybe I'll have to get a PSU sorted for that MSX2!  :P
What's the best way of getting games to the MSX/MSX2 - is there a SD->cart converter or something you'd recommend?

wasn't trying to put you off the M4 - as you say it's the better 'all round' device! but the C4CPC is super easy plug and play - and allowed me to use my 3.5 inch ext fdd real easily - Though if you're writing games of that standard you're clearly technically capable!

For MSX you have the impressive Megaflashrom SCC+ SD, it's a cartridge that includes:
* Hability to execute .dsk, .rom and even .cas images from SD.
* Support for SD card mounted has hard disk.
* SCC sound chip (custom chip used by Konami games)
* Optionally 512Kb RAM expansion.

You don't need anything more to enjoy at full MSX. I was looking equivalent in CPC and M4 board is the most similar device. MFR is a bit more expensive, it cost 99€ the model with no RAM expansion, but it's the ultimate MSX device to play software.

Waiting to get a M4 and enjoy CPC too, I've already Duke response, it seems there is a lot of people interested.

Hello, did any of them make it into the magazines?  :)
* Using the old Amstrad Languages :D * And create my own ;)
* Incorporating the Firmware :P
* I also like to problem solve code in BASIC :)   * And type-in Type-Ins! :D

Hi Jorge, another spaniard here :D Welcome.

I think in spain spectrum was a bit more sold than amstrad, because in spain first speccys appeared on 1982 and cpcs on 1984 and afterwards. I know I had both :).

Cheers.

Not really, I was very young and never tought about sent them to a magazine. However I still remember some commands and can write CPC Basic programs after 30 years  ;) .

Both of them were strong @Kel, but I think CPC was better selling. For example in 1986 there were sold 66.000 Spectrums vs 110.000 CPCs, a big difference between them.

Anybody else feels the Spaniards are taking over? :D It seems people come in waves - Germany, France, Spain...

In any case, welcome!

and in Canada, milk comes in bags.
::)

Bienvenu.

AxelStone

Yeah CPC was really popular in Spain, we are a real horde  :P

Carnivius

Welcome Axel!  Nice avatar.  Is actually one of several cosplay ideas I'm having for an upcoming convention.  Mainly because blue jeans and white t-shirt are very cheap, easy to purchase clothing items and I won't look too weird wearing them on the train. :P
Favorite CPC games: Count Duckula 3, Oh Mummy Returns, RoboCop Resurrection, Tankbusters Afterlife
