Hi all, I've just joined and thought I'd say Hello.  :)

I had a Amstrad CPC 464 with a colour monitor back in the day, got it for Christmas in 1986, it came from Rumbelows, I remember I got the box with the 12 free games. Happy Times :)

I later moved onto an Amiga 500 then Amiga 1200 etc, but I always wanted to keep my old computers, I made the mistake of leaving my old computers at my parents house and they have got rid of them over the years without letting me know or asking if I still want them.  :o

Anyway, I recently, picked up a Amstrad 6128 and Amstrad 6128 plus, I decided to go with the 6128's as I've got a cased version of the hxc floppy emulator to use on my Amiga's so thought it would make more sense to buy disc based systems.

I think I would still like to pick up a cpc 464 later to sort of get my old machine back, I'll try and get a 64k expansion and disc drive for it if I do.  ;D

Thank you for the welcome  :) , sure I'll let you know if I pick another Amstrad up  ;D

Here are the two I have so far, I need to figure out where to set them up still, excuse the vax ;)

Seen a few nice bit's on here that I might like to get later, like a multiface two clone ( be good if works on plus ) haven't checked yet!

Also the CPC Plus cartridge replacement looks really cool, will try and get one if they become available  :)

I would love to play more of the cart games, but most are hard to get, I'll have to try and get a cart with a socket done later as I can't solder for  :-X , shake to much.  :-[

Hello and welcome to the forum Phantomz. My first experience of computers started with the 464 as well. After seeing and using one at a friends house, I managed to perswade my parents to get my sister and myself one for Christmas. It also came with the 12 free games  :)

After a few years or so, I managed to save up and get a 6128. Even more saving and time later, I also added an external 3.5" disc drive, multiface 2, a rombo ROM box and a good few rom's. Unfortunately I eventually sercumed to the world of the Plastic Computer and sold it all off  :(

However, things have turned full circle and I now have a 6128 again. I have also managed to get another multiface 2, a 3.5" disc drive and have recently purchased a Mother x4 board and a X-Mem.

Thanks for the Welcome  :) I'm glad that you are like myself and managed to get another Amstrad and get it fully kitted out.  :)

There seems to be loads of cool stuff available for the Amstrad now, I might look into that mother x4 board and x-mem etc later.

I'm not sure what I do and don't need at the moment as I load most of my stuff from a hxc floppy emulator that does the job well.

I do need to get a multi cart for my plus and also the multiface 2 clone, then I'll see if I need anything after that.  :)

I haven't picked up a CPC464 yet, but I soon will be the proud owner of a GX4000, just waiting for it to be delivered.  8)

Is it possible to upgrade the memory in it to 128k with some kind of hack and if so is it hard?

I'm asking as it would be cool to run some of the bigger games on it now that we can make cpr's, I had to do it in emulation as waiting on hardware, but I just tried my Chase HQ cart on a emulated 464 plus and I could play every level (the top part of the screen was corrupted) but every level loaded and could be played, the ending didn't load though. Its runs fine on the 6128 plus  :D

Chase HQ can be started with the joystick and played, even paused with P, it just needs the space key for turbo mapped to button 2 on the joypad somehow, then if the GX4000 had 128k it would be able to have a real good version of Chase HQ and not the impossible to find and maybe rubbish? Chase HQ2.  ;D

Take a look at this: http://cpcwiki.eu/index.php/Expanding_from_CPC_464_to_CPC_6128_Spec . Not easy to find a mem expansion, but can be done...
