Seriously, has something happened? Has Sugar released a new CPC and Phenix has the scoop? Because from an average of 200-ish visits yesterday, according to Topsites, it had 402 and today... 1808 and counting??????
POKE &94E,&FF:POKE &94E+1,&FF: Set number of visitors... (FF,FF = 65535)
Cheating, then? It's gone up 150 hits in the last half hour... crazy!
Is this why you deleted the past few days last week?
Going to check out their forum, see if there's anything going on...
PS Poke.... lol :D
Hummmmm?
I didn't delete anything!
Really? Lst week there were three consecutive days with 0 hits....
They're still doing it... yesterday they stopped at 2800, today they're already at 500 hits. Maybe ban them?
I dunno....
But the stats really look very "phantastic" (I mean: manipulated!)
There are less than ~100 active CPC-fan's.
And more than 900 hits per day? Impossible!
Maybe it is newsbot continually checking for news to post on cpc wiki.
Heheh... Newsbot checks the rss feed, it does not poll the actual web page, so it can't be that.
Even 900 hits would be over the top - our top rate was less than 500 hits in Topsites in our entire history. Short of an exclusive on a brand new CPC model I doubt it very, very seriously that this could be achieved.
But indeed, it's relatively easy to cheat it with a proxy list - up to now I naively assumed you had to bypass the voting page, but (duh) hits have nothing to do with voting, and googling it for less than five minutes gave me a good set of tools to trick it...
Can you check the referrers? Maybe there's something there...
No, sorry, no referrers are listed...
I contacted them via email.
Will wait for reply...
Cool, let us know :) yesterday I visited their forums, I didn't find anything exciting...

It is certainly because of Tonton Mayonnaise great tests :D
Do they have Olivia Wilde in sex scenes? ;D
See by yourself (but don't expect too much).

For those who do not speak french, they published an interview of Marion Vannier who was in charge of Amstrad France.
Yeah, I have already read it, great stuff. It has a counter of 6000 reads, which is amazingly impressive. Does Vannier hold any more general interest in France?
No, there is no kind of deceit of our part...
We indeed realized the interview of Marion basket maker, CEO of Amstrad France from 1982 till 1992.
This information was published on several important sites, what explains our impressive statistics.

Amazing work then, guys... congrats!!!
Any chance of having an english translation?
PS Basket Maker? Google translate fail? :D
PS2 @Phil: yes, it is amazing. Any non-retro sites that mentioned the interview?
PhenixInformatique is really popular in France. Because it actually attracts "non regular CPC people", I mean, you know - the guys launching Commando or Fruity Frank from times to times and does not care at all about the rest.
High hit counts about this site does not shock me at all! ;D
Marion Vannier is a popular character because she has been interviewed many times in French magazines at the time. She's considered as the girl who introduced Amstrad machines in France. Doing that recent interview was a big hit from PhenixInformatique's team.

Yes, she is a VIP in France.
This maybe a good reason for many clicks.
As I told, I mailed to phenix.
The reply is that they just have so many visitors because of their work.
In fact, because of this interview, that's realistic.
Congratulation for the interview, it's a nice thing that it was advertized on sites like pcinpact, if it can bring back people to the Amstrad like Luke 15 (The parables of the lost sheep and of the prodigal son).
I removed phenixinformatique by request from the toplist site. >:(
Removed? But why? Wasn't it real?? I actually added a link to the interview on the front page...
Well, the "why" is simply replied:
Because it hurts when you have real stats and other people moan about them.
If you're referring to me, I was asking what was up with PI and expressed my concern about cheating, given it has happened in the past. But I did accept their explanation...

No, I didn't mean especially you. But in general.
I want to apologize.
There was a misunderstanding. This morning I received an email that you sent me yesterday at 16h. Meanwhile we exchanged with other mail.
It was probably stuck in in my mailbox.
I'm sorry for this mistake and I apologize again.
Regards.
Mail of markus :
Hello,
please check your website / cpc toplist code.
It's impossible to retrieve so many hits per day as your website does.
If you use the cpc-hitlist code in OTHER websites, than phenixinformatique.com, please remove it.
If your website is being attacked by web crawlers/bot's, please let me know it.
Hmmm but now I feel bad... it's not fair either :(
I do not blame you Gryzor. I want one.
There's nothing serious. I understand very well that the stats were surprised everyone, we first:).
http://www.pcinpact.com/ we sent over 4000 visitors in 2 days. We also have many working for the promotion of the article. Other sites (http://www.amigaimpact.org, http://mag.mo5.com/, http://www.apres-le-taf.com/, ...) have brought much people ... We will try to do a translation of the interview with Marion Vannier.
I re-activated phenix's account.
So just put back the html code in place ;)
Shit happens.... ;) And noboty is perfeckt...
Heheh... there was some phase difference there... all's well.
@Phenix: if it gets translated, and after a while, could I repost the interview in the wiki (with all credit given, of course)? It's way too interesting...
The code snipet has not been correctly installed... 2 hits today?
Hmmmm.... @Phenix:
You did not apply the html code... So I think it should be removed permanently? :(
