I thought I would start sharing some of the stuff I've learned about repairing computers, so I started making some videos.

Here's one where I attempt to fix an Amstrad CPC 6128 but it stubbornly refuses to work. Some good takeaways along the way though, so I hope it's useful.

Nice video. For some reason, I was expecting a Spanish accent, not American.

Bryce.

P.s. Invest in a decent multimeter when you have the funds. I wouldn't trust that one as far as I could throw it.

Thanks! As for the accent, that's what happens when you spend 27 years in the US :-)

I know that's a pretty entry-level oscilloscope, but I figured that for the kind of frequencies we see in these computers that it would be mostly fine. I remember seeing some videos on EEVBlog saying that it was cheap Chinese stuff but that it was OK for the price. What kind of problems do you think I might run up against with it? And also, what would be the cheapest oscilloscope you would recommend?

Bryce

The oscilloscope is fine, it's the multimeter I find questionable.

Oh, doh! I misread that. Yeah, that multimeter is embarrassing :-)

The last video working on that Amstrad is a full cosmetic restoration and deep cleaning.
