Can I force GX4000 to display anything without a game installed?

Quite a few years ago I was given a GX4000 console, had a go at repairing it at the time but didnt get anywhere. Since then, the case has been disposed of and I have no games for it.

Decided to pull it out and see if I can get it going, however as I have no games, i'm not sure I'll be able to get any sort of display, or in fact get correct signals on the board.

Is it possible to force it into any sort of test mode so I don't have to buy a cartridge, or backup pcb & eprom?

If I get it working then i'll maybe go down the route of getting a game or two working on it but for now, I'm more interested in the repair side and don't want to tie up any substantial amount of cash as it's just a learning project.

thanks!

The GX4000 has not an internal ROM, it relies entirely in the cartridge to initialize the hardware, so the answer is no.

(The same with the 464Plus and 6128Plus computers, the system ROM has been moved to the system cartridge)
