OK... I've got me one of these arcade CGA/YUV/RGB to VGA converter boards (see photo). I've wired up a 6pin DIN to the supplied cable.

Now I need to power both it and the CPC somehow.
Am I correct in thinking I need to buy 3 separate power supplies now?

  • 5V DC for CPC
  • 5V DC for the VGA converter
  • 12V DC female for the internal disk drive (where do I even find a female DC power supply?)
Or is there a less complex way to get around it?Does anyone sell a specially built power supply for CPC6128?
CPC6128 modded with ABBA switch. External 5.25" floppy drive with side switch and Multiface 2. Now also sporting a joystick splitter and M4 WiFi board.

For 5V you can use one PSU for both, just get one with 3A or more.

12 Volt, yes you need to turn them inside out, cut the cable and solder it the way around to change plus and minus. You can guy that PSUs for LEDs they are everywhere. The plug already fits, but the polarity needs to be changed.

Those LED devices aren't PSU's even if they get called that. They are constant current devices meant only for LEDs, I definitely wouldn't connect one to a CPC, the voltage isn't stable, only the current is. This could turn your drive into a smoke machine.

Well, I'm using them since about 5 years with different CPC setups and never had a problem.

Is it a real PSU or one of those LED driver PSUs? Can you post a picture of it (with the label visible preferably).

Ok... so I need 1 x 5V DC PSU with a splitter to get 2 outputs... and possibly a 12V PSU for LED lights (or not?)
Can someone direct me to where I could find suitable products? :) Thanks!
Or perhaps someone on this forum sells a CPC 6128 connection kit? (with AU plug for Australia)
