Title: Convert Commodore Datasette for use on 6128 tape socket?
Post by: blackdalek on 03:40, 02 January 18
I have an old Commodore Datasette (actually from a Commodore Plus/4) that is sitting around doing nothing.

How difficult would it be to convert it to have the REM/AUX/EAR sockets required by a standard tape cable used by the 6128?

Datasette seems to have:
1 GND
2 +5V
3 MOTOR
4 READ
5 WRITE
6 SENSE
7 GND

CPC has:
1 REMOTE
2 GND
3 REMOTE
4 DATA IN (read)
5 DATA OUT (write)

So it looks like the Commodore component would need an external power supply to work since the CPC has no +5V line on its tape socket.

I think the "remote" is the "motor" line on the Commodore datassette, but i could be wrong.
