Title: CPC 6128 Bank Switch Rom Failure
Post by: Old_Retro_Man on 13:37, 13 July 20
Good afternoon, I am a complete novice here. I have an Amstrad CPC 6128 and the Bank Switching chip has a partial fail. The 1st 64k Ram works fine but unable to switch to 2nd 64k Ram. Software diagnostic has confirmed this. I now know this for sure having been able to test with another working chip. Can any body please tell me where I might be able to get a working replacement chip at a fair price? Thank you

Hi and welcome,
it's not a ROM, it's a PAL. You can buy a PAL16L8 and program it yourself with the JED file which is available on the Wiki. If you don't have the equipment / knowledge to do that, then there are several people here who could program one for you.

Bryce.

I can supply you with one, but I'm in Germany. If you can't find someone locally, get back to me.

Thank you. I will try to find someone in the U.K. How much would you charge to send 1 to me in the U.K?

Thanks
