I'm copying files between disc images. Through trial and error, these settings seems to have worked so far, but are there recommended settings?
- Copying binary (.BIN) files - default export (with header), import as binary
- Copying BASIC files (.BAS or no extension) or text files - export without header, import as ASCII

Thanks

BAS need header, without it doesn't work.
Most files need it, exept TXT and some files for CPM.

I experiemented with a BASIC file and you're quite right about needing headers. I must have got confused the first time.

I guess that "Export with headers" is generally paired with "Import as Binary", and "Export without headers" is generally paired with "Import as ASCII". Are thse CP/M files you mentioned the exception? And which ones are they - .COM files?

I don't remember and I don't want to lie. I think SUB is like TXT, like ASCII, and most others for CPM have their own type of header that Amsdos doesn't recognize and sees these files as ASCII without header. If you add an Amsdos header to it, it will stop working. There are probably some exceptions, even BAS is sometimes ASCII instead of tokens. Fortunately, there are only two possibilities, if one doesn't work, other one should. :)

Actually, such knowledge is only needed when you extract a file from DSK to PC partition. I think copying between DSK will be easier with some file-copy program in CPC Emulator. Then you don't need to know which files have header or not.

if what you want is copy files from DSK to DSK, the easier way IMO is loading both DSKs on Winape, open each drive using CRTL+Shift+F1 or F2, then copy and paste files just as it was windows folders
