I am trying to use a 3" floppy as a second drive on a 6128.
I have it all mounted and powered but I am having trouble with the 34 pin to 26 pin conversion.
I cannot locate the pinouts for a 3" drive either.
I assume it should be the reverse of Bryce's internal 26 to 34 pin adapter.
I can run a 3.5" drive no problems.
I have the cable plugged in with the 180 twist that's why the red line is on the no 1 pin but on the 6128 it is on pin34, thats the only way I get 3.5" drives to work.
Amstrad reversed the pinouts from standard on the 6128 with even numbers being gnd, and odd numbers data, why?
I think this is where my problem lies, I need the pinouts of the drive 26 pin socket
All I get with the 3" drive is "disk missing".
There is no drive select jumper for these drives that I can find.
Can someone please tell me what is wrong or needed.   :-\

OK, Solved it.
Finally found this page after posting: http://pcwpage.co.uk/making-a-data-cable-for-a-3-to-a-standard-3-5-drive/
I had to crossover pin 4 and pin 6 to get drive select to work.
Happy chappy now  :P

Will post some photos off the completed ext drive tomorrow, its bed time now.

Yes its fairly simple to do I have been looking at that one. My problem with these mods is hacking into the original case to fit switches.  :(

The CPC case is one of the worst  with not much lower case to fit things to.

I am putting in a reset button at the moment and am using the hole left by not having the 12v cable out the back.
