I discovered these Arduino jumper cables. Male to female 10cm long.
Perfect for those pesky Amiga, Amstrad drive conversions.
I have ordered 3 x 40pin sets for AU$3.41 free postage from HK.
I bought a 20pin set here locally and it cost AU$5.95

That's a nice quick'n'dirty solution, but is it strong enough to last?

I have quite a lot of these cables lying around and they are convenient, yes... for long term solutions I prefer to solder or use proper connectors, but for trying things they are very useful  :)

I think they are called  "Dupont male to female" jumper cables, and not a bad idea at all :)

These are useful for quick connection tests. I use them too, but I wouldn't recommend them for long-term use, especially when the pin order is one to one anyway with little or no crossover.

Well my hot glue gun works a treat for longer term use of the cable. :D
My first ghetto style cable I painstakingly soldered 26 wire flat cable to two 13 pin male header strips then plugged them in and hot glued them.
This also serves the dual purpose of stopping the solder joint flexing and electrical insulation.
I have actually just sourced some real 26pin male idc connectors. 8)
Tech thingies are not so easy to get Downunder (le bout du monde) unlike in the EU.

FYI. If you are unclear as to what a ghetto solution is have a look at these examples: http://nowaygirl.com/photos/there-is-a-ghetto-solution-that-can-fix-any-problem/
