i picked up an untested,  case damaged, MP-1 which is putting out 5V. is there a way for me to verify the RF side without a known working CPC to connect up to it?

Do you have an oscilloscope?

Then you'll have to connect it to a TV to find out if it works.

ok, thanks. does the MP-1 output anything receivable by the TV without a CPC connected?
