Hi all,
I have recieved my Amstrad CPC 464 today and had got a power cable and RGB Scart cable for it.
It switches on fine and looks great on the TV, however, sometimes the screen show black with red text instead of the normal blue screen.    I checked and if I slightly wobble the connection to the RGB socket on the computer it goes to the correct colour.
I'm a bit of a noob at fixing these things, could anyone give me a pointer on what to do.    The socket itself doesn't seem to be very wobbly.
Many thanks
Peter

Buy a can of contact cleaner: https://www.ebay.co.uk/p/28034033369 and blast a load of it into the socket. Also, you could open up the computer and check that the socket's pins don't have dry joints.

Thanks for the reply.   I've ordered the contact cleaner as suggested.
I've also found a youtube video of the dry joints on the RGB socket of the 464 so I'll give that a go as well.

The contact cleaner can came today so I blasted loads in the socket.   Unfortunately it didn't make it any better though it has made putting the cable into the socket a lot easier.
I took the CPC apart and re-soldered the dry joints.   Put it back together and turned it on - the picture is now perfect and is rock solid.
Thank you very much for the advice Bryce, it is much appreciated.
I just need a replacement i key for the keyboard and it will be complete.

The can of contact cleaner wasn't wasted money, it's always good to have a can to hand when you need it.

Yes, I'm glad I bought it as it will no doubt really come in useful.
