Hi everyone,

I'm looking at Lotharek's site for HxC and I'm wondering if it matters which version you get to plug into a CPC, the Rev F or the Rev C. Is there one that works with CPC and one that doesn't?

(Can you guess I'm not a hardware person? :D )

All of them work with the CPC 6128 and 664. You need an additional box to make it work on a 464.

As of which one, well it depends on what you want to do with them. Rev F is meant to be put in a 3.5" slot, whereas the Rev C cased is a standalone unit. You could find an external 3.5 enclosure, but then you would still need to figure out the cabling. Some people remove their 3" drive to put the Rev F, though I would strongly suggest you not to do it. They aren't the same size and you would just end up with gaping holes over and under it that you would need to fill somehow. Not to forget you would lose compatibility with original 3" discs.

The Rev C cased is the go to unit if you want a plug and play solution. It sits in a nice small box that you can put over your 3" drive or next to it, and it has a bigger screen which is easier to read. You still need cables for either of them though: I recommend the ones from ikonsgr74 on ebay, they have solid cables and competitive prices.

Thank you. I'll get a Rev C, then. :)

Cool. As I recall, we've seen it in use n your videos, so I know it'll give good mileage.

I've installed, modded or cased 20+ HxC for CPC's or other systems. The Rev C is the most flexible and fits nicely into most situations. The Rev F is nice for computers that have a 3.5in bay, but a pain in the arse for the CPC.

Then I shall avoid the Rev F, since I deal with enough pains in the arse at work already.

As far as I know, you are involved in local politics. Is there anything else, other than pains in the arse that you get to deal with? :)

Bryce.

Edit: You probably shouldn't answer that comment, it may influence your chance of being voted in next time around :)

I was thinking the same thing. :D

My favorite is HXC revision C cased edition. Though a bit pricey, it's pretty versatile as you can connect it to a CPC as well as to an Amiga or ST.
M'enfin!

Cased will be the one I order; I'm always wary of breaking something if it's not in a case.

I bought the rev c cased version and that's what I would recommend.

Brilliant pice of kit

As 99% of the answer, the cased one is the best solution  ;)
