The version that I have shown on May 27th is basically finished. However a last new revision for the PCB is required which will be ordered and tested after the summer holidays. I would expect that it can be released in later October or November.

That's great!! Thank you. Really looking forward to it.

Hi Eto,

I am also very interested in the internal 464 expansion.

However I was under the hope that we get more like the first picture you posted here. So really shrunk to the minimum. Yes it will be for guys who know how to solder SMD components properly.

I am not scared as I have soldered and sold several PiStorms for the A1200. That was a task in its own. You also could probably get it soldered by PCBway or any other manufacturer, so that can be done easily.

The new design is SMD, however it is pretty much the same size as the TH version, which makes it not reasonable to even design it. The only advantage would be to have it pretty much in the same footprint as the original CPU.

If you want to share the current design, I could maybe help to work on it, esp. if you probably do not see any interest in working on it any more, as the other design just works.

Just let me know what you think.

Proud owner of 2 Schneider CPC 464, 1 Schneider CPC 6128, GT65 and lots of books
Still learning all the details on how things work.

The SMD design is about half the size of the TH design and probably less than 50% of weight due to the much lighter components (TH ICs are much heavier). This alone is a big pro for a SMD version.

The CPU size version is for the CPC 6128 as it won't add C3 support for the 464/664. It's very early stage as I didn't have time yet to make a PoC for it. The CPLD logic does not exist yet, so I can't share anything.

If you are interested in a CPU size expansion I think Lotharek offers a 576K internal expansion that is almost the size of the CPU socket.
