Hi,

just wanted to share the news from the Event Horzion Telescope, an earth sized interferometer that took a picture of the black hole of Messier 87 a few years ago, that they are going to reveal today their latest discovery on a press conference at 15:00 CEST.

This time the target of that huge telescope was nothing other than our own galaxy, the milky way, so you can guess what they are going to show us today ;) (I hope I'm not wrong with my guess)

They have multiple streams, as far as I understand for different languages, here is the link from the european ESO in english:

And here in spanish:

Links found here: https://eventhorizontelescope.org/

Have fun

Gryzor

Was waiting for it, but got no idea about what they'll present. Any hints? 🙂

Thanks for the links!

I can only guess, no one really knows, but to me it's clear - please reconsider if you really want to know, as it spoils the suspense ... :)

Spoiler: ShowHide
The name of the telescope (event horizon) refers to the name of the "border" of a black hole (there is no border). So, I think, they will present us a hopefully nice picture of the central supermassive black hole of the milky way.

I think of something more galactic, did they see The Galaxy Railways? Well, I did.

I wonder about the reaction of people if you say that in a maternity room  :)  :)  :)

Well, I wanted to make such a joke when my son was born, but it was only me and a nurse so it made little sense :D

But, in terms of cosmic events, getting a newborn is right up there with a black hole photo.

If you zoom in a bit and enhance you can see Matthew McConaughey.

Anything less than Chase HQ 2 would be a disappointment.

I really hope that that's NOT referring to "things to say in a maternity room" !!  ::)

Oh I think it was.

Anyhow, impressive - not the photo itself really, very similar to the previous one, but the whole concept...

Well, back the day we used the CPC to stare at Galaxies, when we had some beers too much it looked like this:
