Hello. From PCWWiki today we leave you with a classic game in England, based on a TV show with the same name. It's about "Yes Prime Minister". Our role in the game will be to act as the Prime Minister and make political decisions together with other members from our office for a week. We will have a schedule, telephone, notes, etc. to make the appropriate decisions throughout the game. Good luck and we hope you enjoy it.

Hello. From PCWWiki we leave you with an entertaining trivial pursuit type game but simpler. We are talking about Micro Trivia, a quiz game with a mix of three in a row and trivia. We have a time limited by a clock where we can increase or decrease the time and when we finish the game, at the end of it our fun coefficient will be displayed in a table. We hope you enjoy it.

Hello. From PCWWiki we inform you that we have just uploaded the complete "SuperType" program from the English company Digita International that contains 8 font types to add to LocoScript or CP/M. There are two versions, one that was uploaded in paper version and now we have just incorporated the box version. The box version is v1.1 and the paper version is v1.8 which contains enhancements to LocoMail and LocoSpell and their use with SuperCalc. We leave the links to both versions. We hope you enjoy it.

Hello. From PCWWiki we leave you with a classic among conversational games. This is the Lord of the Rings saga, in its first part. "Lord of the Rings" is from the English company Melbourne House. This was programmed in the year 1986 by Philip Mitchell and although the PCW version lacks graphics, it does not envy the gameplay with other platforms. Hopefully you like it.

Hello,

Under normal circumstances, the boot disk for an 8512 would be identical to that for a 8256.  It's the drive that's being used for booting that's important, and both will be using a SS 40 track format.  If you've got an 8512 set up differently, and you've solved the problems that this will cause, then things might be different - for example the normal boot disk has a boot sector and the code in this will assume a SS 40t disk.

Of course, if you're using an 8512 you might have different things on your boot disk relating to reading/loading files from B: as opposed to A:, but this will be happening AFTER the system has finished loading.  If someone has added things to the boot disk, then such a disk will have problems if it's used on an 8256 as it will be looking for B:, but the system will have loaded OK.

You're asking about a .DSK image - is there a Gotek involved in this, as this can change things somewhat?

Good morning from PCWWiki. Today we leave you with "PHILOSOPHER'S QUEST" a game from the English company Topologika. This conversational adventure game was programmed in 1987 by Peter Killworth. We find ourselves in an old warehouse, we go to the back and see a wand on the floor, we shake it and we move back in time. Good afternoon everyone. We recently published with the permission of its creator Kevin Thacker the game for Amstrad PCW "Sudoku". Again this genius has sent us to share with all PCW users a new game called "Mayhem". This new adaptation has been made with permission of the original author, Mark Incley. We hope you enjoy it.

Thanks,

I've got the game transferred to my PCW (d/l the .DSK, put the .DSK into Joyce, extract the .COM, transfer that via old PC to a CP/M disk and use that on the PCW), and yes, it seems to work.

But, hmm - I understand the reason for using the strange font for the on-screen text, but I'm struggling to read it.  I guess I'll get used to it in a while.

Even so, THANKS for your efforts.

I'm going off-topic here, but it surprises me how often I see that font in use when someone wants to employ a suitably "sci-fi" typeface. It's based on a typeface called Stop, and it was designed by Aldo Novarese in 1971.

Durell Software used it in their own logo and several of their titles as well.

JTN

Staying off-topic... I remember that font associated with one of the early PCW DTP packages - I guessed Stop Press, and indeed you can see it in PCWwiki's material (screenshot, manual page).
