just been informed about this being put onto eBay:

In the past, I've done business with this gentleman and he sells genuine working Amstrad software / hardware (I've bought quite a lot from him over the past year!)

I hear this is quite a rare item these days....  :o

Nah, I watched an RS232 sell for over 350 GBP a year or so ago.  I know, 'cos I bowed out of the bidding whilst the price was still < 100 GBP.

Technically no, but from a users perspective yes. Although it is probably a bit faster than the harddrives of the time.
