Recorrido completo por el Birdie para Amstrad CPC Ere Informatique (1987) Como se puede leer en las instrucciones: "Puro lenguaje máquina 100% garantizado, sin lasers, llaves, cables, robots, llamadas al sistema, bárbaros, mazmorras, reclamaciones, llamas." Birdie es un juego distinto, inspirado en la película Birdy (también inspirada en el libro del mismo nombre), es un intento de recrear el sueño de convertirse en un pájaro y volar lejos. El programador, Stéphane Picq, con 22 años, harto de ver juegos de aventuras con escenarios complicados o arcades donde sólo debes disparar, concibió la idea de un juego innovador y no violento. La trama del juego se basa en el vuelo de un pájaro a través de diversos países, comenzando desde un universo familiar y conocido con árboles y ruinas, para terminar (a través de puertas interdimensionales) en un universo totalmente irreal, casi apocalíptico, y que según sus palabras, "bien podrían ser el sueño de un hippie". El juego incluye conceptos muy bien conseguidos como la velocidad y la gravedad, y el llamar la atención de rapaces que nos darán caza si volamos demasiado alto. Dos años le costó terminar este juego, principalmente debido a la rutina de zoom que concibió especialmente para él, y que nunca había sido utilizada antes. Toda una joya para el Amstrad. Where on earth do you find those obscure titles?

This one would have been superb if scrolling was a bit smoother...

Not so obscure... but perhaps only in France!

I bought it at the time it went on sale and it is written by Stephane Picq, a famous french computer music writter  (Purple Saturn Day, Dune, Lost Eden...)
