My new video has been many weeks in the works again because I tracked down the original designer, developer, coder and graphics artist of Rick Dangerous - Simon Phipps! Who agreed to do my very first in-person video interview for this one! And he was brilliant!!

The video covers both the Rick games across all the systems, but don't worry the Amstrad gets a LOT of love here because the final part (of this very long video - I know!!) is full longplay & reviews of both Rick games on the Amstrad CPC!!

Consider the video, after the intro and overview in 3 main chapters - (1) The 'story / making of' Rick and Simon's interview (2) comparison of the Rick games across all computers and releases (3) The Amstrad CPC longplays & reviews.

Enjoy and merry Xmas!

Really great video.
The in-person video interview with Simon Phipps is brilliant.
He delivers much inside information with good sense of humour.
Such a great character.

So I'm revisiting the Rick Dangerous games again.
Great fun to play but a bit of frustration in Part 1.
Part 2 I haven't played for decades.
But really looking forward doing it again...

I can imagine how much work it was, putting this video together.
Thanks a lot and congrats to this video.
It's just awesome. :)

Brilliant indeed.
Doesn't he also look like he stepped out of Star Trek? :)

Sorry just catching up on this now!

But thank you very much for the kind words, yes this took many hours and weeks... months to put together! However I'm very glad I did. These games definitely deserve a lot more respect, especially after hearing Simon's words and passion that was put into it (aggravating deaths in the game aside!).

Simon was a brilliant interview subject and an absolutely top bloke, as I mentioned in the video - we chatted loads before AND after recording, and still chat a bit now to this day! He's completely genuine and still really passionate about stuff!

No problem at all. :)
I appreciate the fact that you personally respond to my comment again.
Your work is a great asset to the Amstrad and retro gaming community.
We respect and enjoy that very much.

I have to admit, I got the CPC just for Rick Dangerous, and now I got a second computer just for Rick Dangerous, the Amiga 500.
Does anybody know if there are key-map mods?
One of the great frustrations with RD remains the button layout. I want support for joysticks with dual buttons. One fire, one bomb. Not fire+UP and fire+DOWN.
