Hi people just a quick question.
I was wondering if the schematic of this is available in PDF format or such:
https://www.genesis8bit.fr/archives/index.php?news_id=588
I would like to build me a keyboard converter for the PCW I have without a keyboard.
I have the PIC and all other components can be bought, but I can't seem to find a usable schematic file, just tje Proteus project. The video part is less interesting for me, since my PCW has a working CRT screen, but I might give that a try later.

You have to contact Habi.

He is on this forum, but spends more time on amstrad.es forum (Spanish speaking, but I get by with Google Translate).

I did contact habi, but he refers to the downloads on his website. The schematic is in Proteus format and since I don't have that, I can't open that file....

JonB

Hmmm, I had a look but I could not see any downloads section. Got a link?

robcfg

Here you have it.

I talked to Habi and he uploaded the schematic as an image.

Thanks! :)

Now for my next problem, the floppydrive not reading floppies :)
Think I am just gonna build me an adapter to fit a "normal" pc floppydrive in there since I have serveral spares :)

One quick question about that schematic.
What is this SEL1 signal on the input?Where does it come from?

Looking at the PCB picture, it looks like it's just a pin that can be pulled high (+5v) or low (GND) with a jumper link.

Ah, then my thought was right.
Pulling it high (with the 5,6k resistor to +5V) enables the video output, while pulling it low (with the resistor grounded) disables it.
Main reason I want to hook it up to composite right now is the fact I am working on restoring the pcw-10 I got and it will be easier if I can just hook it up to an external monitor so I won't have to discharge the CRT tube every time I want to work on the board.
Thanks for the heads up and confirmation

If all you need is video output, maybe one of these would suffice?

I have spare boards.

19rsn007

I saw those but shipping would kill me (to the Netherlands).
I didn't get any video output on my first try (but didn't have a 74HC00), but I will try again using the correct type of NAND gate.
The machine powers up just fine with only 5 Volts.

I see you use a transistor on your board and a potentionmeter on your board btw....would you be willing to share the schematic ?

JonB

Shipping to the Netherlands would cost £2.60 for the built board or £1.25 for the bare board. How is that "killing" you?

You can have the bare board for £3.50 and the fully built unit for £10. Add the shipping and you have a bit of a bargain. I doubt you could build one for less.

Wow, I thought it would be more expensive.
I'll keep it in mind

Build the video thingie on a breadboard just now.
Now off to work on the floppydrive and getting it to boot ;)
