Good evening, today from PCWWiki we leave you with the "GENECAR" character generator program. This program in French from the French company Cobra Soft is programmed in Mallard Basic and with it several games from the same company were created, among which the following stand out: AMSTRAD-DAMES. CHALLENGUER AND MISSION DETECTOR. Some of them already published in the PCWWiki. We hope you enjoy it.

A character set editor, nice!
Well, do the different PcW's have different character sets actually?

Is there a download somewhere?

There are maybe 3 variants of Char sets for the PCWs.   The SuperType system came out long ago, and was a commercial system, this included for printing as well, and also did for Loco as well as CP/M.   There were some 'limitations' regarding Loco, so the prop spacing might go out a bit.   I used this a lifetime ago, and it worked fine.

Much more recently, there have been a couple of 'free' packages, incl various pre-made fonts.   One of them is on John Elliott's web site for download.   I've set my PCW up to use the Sans Serif font which I like a lot.   But these others are CP/M only.   The systems that use the same .EMS files will all work the same way, but the PcW (as opposed to PCW) will be different.

If need be, for CP/M, I'm sure you could pre-load the .EMS/EMT file with the revised font data.   Otherwise you can load the standard system file, then run a little util to replace the char data each time you start up.

I'm sure that at least one of these systems came with a char editor, but there were so many ready made there wasn't much point in messing with that.

If you want a lot of this handing on a plate, check: https://www.seasip.info/Unix/PSF/Amstrad/index.html

My package (SETFONT) can also edit the screen character set for LocoScript 2.28+ (SCRCHAR.JOY) and write fonts into a LocoScript 1 .EMS file. It can't edit printer fonts though, which is what Supertype is for.
The PcW 9256 / 9512+ use the same screen fonts as the earlier PCWs. The PcW16 uses proportional fonts natively, and 8x16 / 8x20 bitmap fonts under CP/M.
I'll have to write up GENECAR for my page on PCW character redefinition when I can find the time.

Update of the French game of Cobra Soft Histoire D'or. This includes the color map and its nomenclature. In the description of the game in the "Extras" section, the phrases to finish the game are included. (Only French-Spanish).

Good evening, from PCWWiki we leave you with the graphic design program "The Desktop Publisher" from the English company DATABASE SOFTWARE. The entire program has been re-scanned in its solo version and pack version. They were formerly united but we have made each one independent. We have also added a new French version of The Desktop Publisher called "DTP-PAO". We hope you enjoy it and then the 3 new links.

Good afternoon, at the request of the colleagues of the French website "ACME", we have been asked to scan the French magazines that are missing to complete the collection. These are the L'echo du PCW. Said magazines were uploaded in their day 3 issues only due to lack of time. So when we restarted the scans, we took the opportunity to upload them to PCWWiki along with 11 3" discs ready for download that accompanied the magazine. There are 2 other discs, numbers 29 and 41, that give problems and we hope that they can be uploaded soon. Taking advantage of the comment to tell you that if anyone contains records from this collection and would like to collaborate to complete and preserve them, we would be very grateful and contact us The new issue of the magazine that has just been uploaded is the corresponding number 17 to March 1988. We continue with the scanning of number 19 which we will let you know when it is ready. Thank you all and we hope you enjoy it.

Good morning, the French magazine l'echo du PCW nº 42 corresponding to the month of July/August 1990 is now available on PCWWiki. With this last one the series of the magazine ends. They are all on the ACME website. Soon we will upload numbers 28 and 29, which are incomplete on the French website ACME. We will try to finish scanning little by little the ones that are left and upload them to PCWWiki. We have only uploaded those that have been requested from ACME. To enjoy.

Fantastic !

We were only missing a few pages on number 28/29, that's great if you can complete them ! The page number missing are noted in the bookmarks - 32 to 35 for issue #28, and same for #29. I assume it's some kind of ordering form for old issues.

Save yourself some hard work if you're going to rescan the other issues, as they're already on ACME you can just get and put the pdfs from there on PCWWiki (They've been scanned in 300dpi png and clean, I guess the quality should be fine)

Many thanks for your help with completing the series ! :)

Good morning, after a long absence, we are back with another amazing game for the Amstrad PCW. These are two conversational games on a floppy disk from the Topology company. The first game is called AVON and the second MURDAC. These games were converted from another machine by Jonathan Partington in 1989. We hope you like them and enjoy them.
