Is remote online participation possible? Or do those who participate in the competition with a game have to come physically?

You send the game through a form that they will put on the web, you do not have to be physically present.

great. Even participating in the competition would be a great pleasure for me. I'm likely to be the last. A low probability occurred to me. if i win, do i have to be at the awards night? Or if I come in last, can I still receive the tape casettes presented in the competition with shipment? These are the questions that come to my mind.

You don't have to be present at the awards ceremony, about the cassettes, after the event is over, the organization creates a cassettes that includes all the games for a small price.

here is the one from last year: http://www.matranet.net/boutique/cpc/cpcdev2020/cpcdev2020.php (http://www.matranet.net/boutique/cpc/cpcdev2020/cpcdev2020.php)

So, mode 0 only? :D

Good luck, that's a really lovely competition/event! @DoctorCPC (https://www.cpcwiki.eu/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=2738) , it doesn't really matter, most entrants to these competitions had never touched a CPC before :)

Announced already (and I didn't notice for a few days, clearly not paying enough attention).
I see that there is the same mistake in the submission deadline as last year.
It says Thursday 2nd November but that is a Tuesday, obviously the correct fix to that typo is the 4th November so that there are two extra days for programming :P but I'm sure you meant to say Tuesday.

This year, #CPCRetroDev contestants will submit their works through itch.io (https://www.cpcwiki.eu/forum/itch.io).
We hope this procedure will bring more exposure and visibility to developers and community.

Check http://bit.ly/CPCRetroDev2021 (http://bit.ly/CPCRetroDev2021) for submission instructions.

Also, we are glad to announce that the amount of sponsors on the #CPCRetroDev 2021 edition has reached up to 9!
Thanks to them, the total amount of prizes has reached the amazing amount of 2400€!!  ;)
In addition, we'd like to thank our experts panel for the work they keep doing every year. Without them and our organization members, it wouldn't be the same.
Thanks for supporting the #CPCRetroDev and the #Amstrad community!

We invite you all to participate in this edition and continue adding content to our beloved CPC world.
Remember: Check Rules, Prizes, Sponsors and Jury at #CPCRetroDev 2021 page http://bit.ly/CPCRetroDev2021 (http://bit.ly/CPCRetroDev2021)

aww, I wish there was a category that wasn't limited to a stock 464... Working on some 6128 Plus stuff that I'd love to enter, but not sure I'll have the time to back-port to straight 464 for the deadline... We'll see I guess!

Congratulations to all for making this contest last for so many years!
This year I decided to offer a small reward for games in BASIC only, as I believe that this category has a lot more to offer.
I encourage everyone that can program something even simple to try, not for the small reward of course, but for the enjoyment of the creation process!

Hello everyone!

Although many of you may have already seen it, we would like to introduce and give a special thanks to all our sponsors, one by one, who year after year help us to improve the contest with their awesome prizes.  ;D

First of all, one of our classic partners is back again this year as a sponsor!
The prize for the Best Arcade Game is awarded by Arcade Vintage Museum (https://museoarcadevintage.com/) with an amount of 100€ and 5 tickets for their museum in Ibi, Alicante.

I'm sure you'll all look forward to visiting it! So, what are you waiting for to win the prize?

Anyone new around here? Are you going to get motivated to make a game?

Once again, games from new developers are rewarded. This is a clear opportunity to create your first game, don't miss it! ;D

We are pleased to welcome as a sponsor AUA (Amigos y Usuarios Amstrad) (https://auamstrad.es/), which gives the prize for the most voted game by the public, with a prize of 200€. That's a lot of money!

Yes, you, gamers, will vote for the best AUA game. This is something that has never been done at CPCRetroDev. This is something we are very excited about, we're sure you are too! :o
We will explain how you can do it later on.

You missed having a category for BASIC games in the contest, didn't you? We do too, we have a special affection for them.

Since 2016 we haven't seen it, but this year Sakis, one of our most repeated #CPCRetroDev contestants (http://amstradsakis.blogspot.com), has teamed up with SdA (Somos de Amstrad), another of the great Amstrad communities (https://www.facebook.com/groups/2137490036569352/about/), to revive the BASIC Category. They will give a total sum of 100€, distributed in two prizes of 60€ and 40€ respectively, to the two best games developed only in BASIC, without the use of external libraries. Wow! ;D

Please, everybody welcome Trusiga (Ramón Nafría) (https://twitter.com/trusiga), who this year has decided to sponsor for his first time the #CPCRetroDev.
This great developer and teacher returns to the origins of video games where he grew up to award the prize of 100€ to the Most Original Final Product presented in this edition.

We would love that this year you give the games a spectacular touch!  ;)

Greetings people!

The games submitted this year look amazing.  ;)

Today is the last day to submit your game to the contest. Don't wait any longer and publish your game page as soon as possible, don't leave it to the last minute.
Remember that this year the submission will take place at https://itch.io/jam/cpcretrodev2021.
All the instructions for making the page on the web can be found on the itch.io website and in the contest rules on ours.
And important, review what we say here to make sure you have everything you need (https://itch.io/jam/cpcretrodev2021/topic/1736369/important-last-minute-checks-before-submitting)!
Good luck to all of you! You are going to rock this year!  8)

And for all those who are not going to compete.... There are some very interesting pages already. Come on, take a look at them!!!

And submitted (and paranoidly checked to see if I forgot anything), as you can see I submitted it way early its only 4:48AM I had over 5 hours left that I could have used :P.
Sadly the game is not bug free (not that can ever be expected) but hopefully it doesn't crash out too often (not enough time to dig into that one, must not break anything!).

FYI, AMSTRED has since been disqualified from the contest (https://itch.io/jam/cpcretrodev2021/topic/1736628/creating-the-tape-cdt-file) for two reasons:

  • The submitted CDT file doesn't load.
  • The game attempts to load additional data after the main program has loaded.

Are you aware that 1. and 2. are exclusive (XOR) statements?

Yes. :) I should have clarified that they also submitted a DSK image, which does load - but the rules state that a working CDT file must be provided.

i guess kraken lack of time to crunch screens and do a proper one-load file, but anyway, it's the one i prefer anyway. I may patch this too to remove loading :D
ps: all 6 screens of 17K can be crunched in 6K with ZX0 so it's possible

Hello everyone, friends of the CPC scene.

Another year, the #CPCRetroDev comes to its end. Congratulations to all the winners, you deserved it!

We would like to thank the sponsors who have awarded the prizes, the experts who have evaluated the games, the University of Alicante, but most of all, all the developers who have participated in the contest. Without these people the contest would not be possible!
And many thanks to all of you who have followed the contest and even participated in the game ratings. We hope you enjoyed becoming a judge for a day!

But as always, it doesn't end here, it's the beginning of new adventures. Now it's time to enjoy the 37 games that were submitted to the contest. You can check them out on the itch.io contest website (https://itch.io/jam/cpcretrodev2021/entries) where they were submitted and in a few days also on our official homepage (http://cpcretrodev.byterealms.com/).  ;)

And don't forget that, as in previous years, we will soon release a physical edition with the collection of games of the #CPCRetroDev 2021. We're sure you'll be looking forward to try it on the real Amstrads! As soon as we have it available we will let you know!
