HxC Floppy Emulator Manager V2.2 released
16 April 2011, 5:49 am

Version 2.2 of HxC Floppy Emulator Manager just got released here. It includes a precious fix provided by Jeff to avoid slowdown issues when folder's content is about 100 files (or more). On my side, I made few enhancements to the user interface (navigation problems are fixed, garbage displayed on screen at startup is removed, buzzer settings can now be edited, and finally more files are displayed on screen at same time). As previous version, ROM version is also available. If you experience issues with the software, please report them on the cpcwiki's dedicated thread. Your feedback is important to us ! :)

Hmmm... just tried 2.2 It reports FW version 0.0.0.0 and then stops with a [64] error!

norecess

It would behave the same way with older software version.

Did you double-check your cable connection, how the card is inserted, power.. (Jeff is better than me for hardware support, sorry !)

Gryzor

Yes, of course... everything is fine...

Btw, what loader does the latest FW version (1.6.0) works for? It says on Jeff's site that it needs a new Loader...

Please update your firmware. The V1.6.0.0 is recommended.

If already done ... please recheck your jumper setting...

I just did, and am reformatting my SD right now :) From what I see you offer 2.2 for download on your page, Jeff, so I take it that's the version you recommend...

I'm very intrigued by what you say about a HDD driver for the ST - could you explain a bit? Will it be able to mount virtual HDD drives? That would be fantastic... what format will these be, if true?

Gryzor

Ahhh crap. 1.6.0.0, 2.2, still get  v.0.0.0.0 upon loading and then the dreaded [64] error... :( I really don't understand why I'm having so many problems... could it be a faulty board?

BTW, SD formatted and checked... 4GB, FAT32, the one I've been using...

64 error means that the cpc don't found a sector.
This probably means that you have an bad floppy setting (jumper...), or an bad floppy cable...
For me there are no point with the sdcard.
What is your setup ? Is the emulator setup as first drive ?

Gryzor

Jumpers are set as always - not many options to screw it up anyway - and cable is almost brand new, apparently perfect. The device is set up as drive B.

*However*, I realised that there was a disc in the A drive and this prevented the loader from loading from the emulator! I'm not sure if this was the case from the beginning, but I have reproduced it every time I insert a disc and try to open the Loader software... is this a known thing?

I posted this in another thread the other day as I found out the exact same thing.

If you you leave a real floppy in the internal drive and run the v2.2 software it throws a [64] error.  If you eject the internal floppy all works perfectly okay.
(not sure if anyone reported it as a bug or known issue as I had to travel to Switzerland and have no access to the hardware and very limited internet access )
