Sure. Without proper bilateral agreements, there will be a customs expense, a VAT surcharge and in many cases also a separate tax (tariffs). That was the end of amazon.co.uk for me.

Gryzor

Also, define 'here'? Is 'here' Scotland or the forum? :D

Then I'd guess yes to the extend that many of us here (in the forum) are not there (in the UK)...

It will affect most people trading between the U.K. and the E.U. (both directions). And it may affect people in the E.U. who use a trading site based outside of the E.U. even if the supplier and the customer are both in the E.U.
And it may also affect trading between the mainland U.K. and Northern Ireland.

Just look at the pain as the owner of Sell My Retro tries to work out how to operate now and in future in this discussion.

Unfortunately now the actual reality of BREXIT will become apparent.

Looking forward to summer in Somerset :-)

TL;DR:

These are DHL prices

Brexit Adjustment: £4.50

Plus 'Economy Packet Post' is not offered any more by DHL, and 'import' charges on EU shipments.

:picard2:
Released The Return of Traxtor, Golden Tail, Magica, The Dawn of Kernel, Kitsune`s Curse, Brick Rick and Hyperdrive for the CPC.

If you like my games and want to show some appreciation, you can always buy me a coffee.

Blimey suprised there isn't another "extra surcharge on surchage" there,  Rod Hull looks like he is learning from Ryan Air policies there.

AFAIK that's not him, that's the cost of international shipping with DHL as provided by DHL.

EDIT: twitter is crap; can't get context. Anyway, to be clear, that's not Rod but DHL prices.

EDIT again: a bit more context; https://twitter.com/futurewas8bit/status/1339702353587519490

Things ok so far for stuff sold on CPCSTORE.CO.UK - we use the good old postal service...
An expanding array of hardware available at www.cpcstore.co.uk (and issue 4 of CPC Fanzine!)

I was recently hit, I had to pay ~30€ after purchasing an Extron RGB-HDMI 300a for ~90€ from an eBay seller in the UK. I received an eMail from DHL and was able to pay using PayPal. The parcel arrived two days ago, so no problems, shipping from the UK to Germany was pretty quick.
Schneider CPC 664 • X-MEM • Vortex F1-X Drive • CTM 644 • DMP 2160
Schneider CPC 6128 • Z-MEM • M4 Board • MultiPlay + Amiga Mouse • OSSC

What was the ~30€ for?

I had a quick look on the royal mail site and prices looked ok to me.  I guess depends what you are selling whether the buyer will get stung with VAT now although the selling price should reflect no VAT but I guess depends if the seller is VAT registered.

I voted to leave the European Union over 4 and a half years ago. I'll leave it at that. (None of my continental friends have brought this subject up with me yet, funny enough.)

As I don't really purchase imported goods from Europe directly, the news article doesn't affect me. I tend to purchase imports from America and Japan for my gaming hobby.

And the end of paying for EU pensions by Brits  :D

Seriously, how will the EU afford the UK not contributing?

Shaun M. Neary

Won't be affecting me, I just won't be giving the Queen my money.

I'll say no more on this completely pointless move.
Currently playing on: 2xCPC464, 1xCPC6128, 1x464Plus, 1x6128Plus, 2xGX4000. M4 board, ZMem 1MB and still forever playing Bruce Lee.
No cheats, snapshots or emulation. I play my games as they're intended to be played. What about you?

Things are likely to get more complicated from the 1st July onwards, I'll need to register to collect EU VAT for sales in the EU - or its likely every package will get held up at customs with extra charges for the end customer.... I suspect this will also mean registering as a business and for VAT in the UK first :/

Damn this sucks. Perhaps retro sellers should establish warehouses in the EU like big retailers do :D
