Title: CPC's In the strangest of places
Post by: ukmarkh on 00:36, 27 November 09
The new Martin Clunes series, Islands of Britain... shows a CPC 6128 living in a bus stop in the Shetlands. Bizarre or what? Anyone else seen a CPC in a strange place??

You can see the small image from the old Microsoft download page on the bottom left of the following website: http://www.bernd-leitenberger.de/cpc464.shtml (http://www.bernd-leitenberger.de/cpc464.shtml).

Well, I saw a CPC6128 in a travel agency somewhere in spain (I don't remember where) in the late 90s and I am absolutly sure that I saw one when I visited a car manufacturer (must be Mercedes in Stuttgart or Opel in Ruesselsheim) where it was used somewhere in the production line.

Wait - the bottom left photo was on MS's site? Whaddayaknow... impressive! I wonder if the guy who did it, did it on purpose or just googled (heh) "computer image"...

When I passed my driving license.

The driving lesson agency did have an "old" amstrad CPC6128.
It was in 1996-7 if I remember well.

I was surprised indeed as I couldn't think of it as a professionnal computer, because it was my game machine in the past.

Quoteshows a CPC 6128 living in a bus stop in the Shetlands.
??? I can't imagine the meaning of this ? got picture ? link to a video please ?

Was it a homeless amstrad CPC sheltering in a bus stop ? ^^

I remember seeing this TV programme and the 6128.  It was not working and just put there for decoration as it is a kind of 'crazy' bus stop (pretty much like the people who live in the Shetlands).  It is in one of these bus stops (http://www.self-preservation-society.co.uk/jotter/busstops/shetland1.htm).

Here are some photographs of the actual bus stop in question:

Looks like my room while at university..

Only thing missing is a few crates of beer and some canned food (Mostly bakedbeans and meat balls!)

Heh!!

Small confined space, people comming and going all the time (many of whom where tipsy and many I hardly knew), old computers but sweet computers! Sounds a bit like a bus-stop to me  ;D

Well metaphorical speaking ...

I don't know. But I think they must have a good game running, otherwise the computer would have been trashed by now and the bus stop covered with graffiti! ;)

It seems Tennis Cup 2 cover was largely inspired by a 80's advertisment in France.

The face of the man on the left (Patrick sabatier, a TV broadcast host) you just turn left-to-right the picture, tadah...

"Tennis Cup, ça vas fort !"
Trés fort.

("ça vas fort" : lit :it goes strong / mean : i'm very well)
("trés fort" : very strong/very well.)

It seems to be a Russian meeting, as we know CPC is quite uncommon beside Western Europe and greece (a perhaps a bit Australia...) it is really CPC's In the strangest of places.

Yet I wish I could understand what he says...

Translation: "Ha ha ha, our stupid European neighbours still haven't worked out how to crack the cartridge mechanism of this ancient machine."

I think it's bedtime for me  8)

Haha, rolling on the floor, I thought about a thing like this indeed...

Honestly, just need money, some chips to sacrifice and getting a proper company doing this.
