The non-existence of keyed female IDC headers

I was wondering why none of the 4 x board connectors on the MotherX4 board were keyed when all of the Mx4 compatible expansion boards had keyed male connectors... So I did a search to see if I could buy some to solder into the Mx4.

Turns out they're impossible to find. Perhaps they don't exist? The only keyed 2x25 IDC female connectors I can find are for flat ribbon cable and all the solder in headers are keyless.

Are keyed female IDC connectors the exclusive domain of ribbon cables?

They do exist, they're just extremely rare and expensive. I doubt you want to pay $10+ per connector.

For the MotherX4 it's not really necessary, though - the correct orientation is obvious.

That must be very rare indeed. I was unable to source any.
