Title: Happy Birthday, Richard!
Post by: Gryzor on 08:28, 21 August 14
If I'm not mistaken it's Richard ( @Executioner (http://www.cpcwiki.eu/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=17) )'s birthday today.

Happy birthday mate, hope it's filled with as much joy as you've given us :)

If you can make the GUI of ParaDOS work with a X-MEM and with the firmware 3.1 extensions etc, that would be awesome. Unless I boot the xmem with expansion roms disabled then |DRIVE returns "Bad Command" CPC. with Parados in slot 7 (In my modified plus cart) then to get to the Parados GUI I have to boot themachine with ESC pressed until the Ready prompt. |drive then works, otherwise not.

I wonder if I am alone or if anyone else has this problem?

No, i don't get that bug, but i'm using a normal CPC and i have Parados in rom 6 (asmdos in 7, basic in 0, fw3.15 exp in 1 and fw3.15).

Hmm, well I just flashed Parados on 6 and booted with a standard plus cart.

same issue. except I not cannot access the parados GUI at all, as booting with ESC also disables rom 6.

possibly a Plus thing then :( although I cannot think how.

OK after some more testing on my 2 6128pluses, Amstrad and Schneider CPC 6128's I found the problem.

It only manifests itself when a Silicon disc is configured, By reinstalling the x-mem with no C drive then |drive works perfectly. with the silicon disc functionaliity present in the FW 3.15 then |drive returns Bad Command. I guess this is a firmware 3.15 bug and only a firmware 3.15 fix or changing the bar command for Parados will fix it... |Parados anyone, although I remember reading somewhere (WACCI or AA I guess) that there is no space left in the rom for any extra commands hence the reassigning of |drive in the first place??

There's definitely not much room left there, I have to re-think the way it does format selection. The new version will have the file copy bug fixed, support for Vortex and PCW formats, and the |GAME, |JEUX etc Plus commands will be available for the Plus version.

True that. I imagine we could be discussing ponies or Sofia Vergara by this point.
