NDS Homebrew Game by me
« on: 17:25, 13 November 12 »
Heres a homebrew game I made for the NDS. Its a simple puzzle game where you escape each screen by finding the key to unlock the exit, and collect as many coins as you can. Full details on the gbatemp site:

http://gbatemp.net/threads/new-game-subtera-puzlo.337294/

If anyone wants to help convert it to CPC, let me know.

Looks really cute though if you're not registered there you can't see the full-size screen caps. Do you have a video of it?

But I'd say, a new CPC game? Bring it on!

Theres a teaser video of a WIP version online:

Subtera Puzlo

Its a bit more advance than that now though, with more mechanics and bug fixes. I will do a long play version of the game at some point, but it wont be until its been around for a while.

@EgoTrip: I thought you said you couldn't code?

But I look at the video and I see you can.

I understand it's made with a "game maker" tool and I looked at the webpage about it.
Did you code using it's BASIC?

EDIT: I like the game. It would be good to see a cpc version.

I can do simple stuff, I used the built in actions and PALib routines, a little bit of C++ and the DBAS. DGSM takes out a lot of the tricky stuff, but it cant really do anything overly complex, it cannot do 3D stuff easily, if at all. And the sound support is extremely limited.

I really struggle with the CPC though, its completely different, BASIC is ok but the results are not really worth publishing. I cannot get my head around ASM at all, ive tried it so many times hoping it will just "click" but it never has. If you've used DS Game Maker, or even the PC Game Maker, you'll understand, as these tools are made for people like me to get their ideas working with minimal knowledge of programming.

It would be great if a similar environment existed for the CPC.

There's a lot more programming going on without 3D stuff. I think you can safely say that you can program. :)

Yes I agree.

A library of functions for the cpc, which hide more of the complex details, and setup in a way that can be used  by others like you is exactly what is needed.

The video looks really lovely. I think it would translate very nicely to the CPC...
