xbox joystick / gamepad connection problems

dudes need some help connecting my xbox controller to my pc so i can play cpc games on my emulator....

have been into the control panel on my pc and selected game controllers but a whole heap of different options come up and i have no clue which one i should select -

have selected a few ramdom ones but they come up with error messages...

there is no cd rom or anything like that to be installed

when i connect the xbox game controller to usb port it lights up green in the middle like it should but then disappears when it should stay on

any advice much appreciated want to play r-type remake especially for this

Wich OS do you use? Are you using an original xbox 1 controller with an usb adapter or an xbox 360 one?

believe i am using xp os

and have an xbox 360 controller

went to add hardware on the control panel that didnt work either.....

have now gone onto a website and downloaded an xbox 360 driver - installed it and it is in the game controller on the control panel.  says successful etc also the green light on the xbox controller stays lit so it is in use and working

loaded up cpc games cd loaded up a game but nothing happens when i use the controller even after selecting a joystick in the game...

loaded up java cpc website tried it on r-type remake and nothing even with selecting joystick mapping.....

so i have a controller that works now just cant get it working on cpc gaming  ??

Yesterday I connected my Xbox360 wireless adapter for PC, and I was playing the new R-Type with it.


The funny thing is that I was unable to use the D-Pad, but worked well with the Left Stick...

after much mucking about i finally got it working.....

downloaded a driver from the net but even after that it still wouldnt work couldnt figure it out then after lots od head scratching i changed the usb port..... and viola its working now

also got it working on java cpc too a while so frustrating.... had to map the keys and download joy2key to do it though fuck wat a head fuck it was
