Hey Guys,

Have you seen this?

http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/78873?c=home

It's basically a UK company trying to secure funding to make a feature film on the the days of retro gaming from 1976 - 1996, looks like it will be really good so if you feel you have the funds to contribute a little (minimum $10) then head over to the page and help these guys out!I gave them $25 (about £17) which will give you a download of the film when it is completed. If they cannot secure the funding you will get 100% of your money back so worst case you will not be out of pocket and best case you'll get what is looking to be a fascinating documentary!

Remember they only have 9 days left to secure all the funding they need and are a long way off so every bit helps!!

Cheers,

Damien

Unfortunately it's not going very well... only 25% of the money required raised thus far :(

I know, but reading the news page it sounds like they may have some irons in the fire! It's a shame they only have 9 days left, I heard about them a month ago, donated then forgot all about it (otherwise i'd have posted on the forum earlier - my bad!)

I'm not sure how long they have been active for.... I guess all we can do is hope for a surge at the end or that someone with significant money will invest as an Executive Producer... Anyway I'm glad I donated a bit for what it's worth, if it doesn't happen I will get the money back but I'd rather get the documentary instead!

I heard about the project a little while, thuoght it sounded interesting and watched their video.

I came away thinking that there was no way I'd want to watch a video if they were narrating it, which is a shame, because otherwise it's a project I'd probably enjoy...

endangermice

The guys doing the presentation are the Producers/Directors and I'd think it is highly unlikely they would do the narration. The initial part of the video is the presentation from those making it - the sales pitch essentially and they do the presentation themselves simply because they want to show their faces - a wise move when you're asking for money. It shows that they are enthusiastic and most importantly very genuine, they're not slick suited types but creatives who are a little awkward and geeky.

However it is their production skills that matter and I think the trailer that follows clearly shows that they are very good and it is this which is the example of what the film would actually be like. Granted it has no narration but is clearly slick with high production values which would no doubt be matched with a professional narrator - so I think you needn't worry on that count!

It's sad, i though that it would be possible, because the project looks amazing, i gave the link at the end of may in this thread. They could get in 9 days, but they need a strong promotion in the appropriate communities.

endangermice

I agree, it is very sad - glad you posted the link back in May though, it almost certainly helped more than me posting it today! We'll have to watch the site after the deadline draws to an end, maybe they'll secure the rest of the funding from somewhere else.....

Maybe, because i dream with a film like this  :) I'm sure is going to be a success and not only in uk, i love it and i'm spanish ;)

Also, they're interviewing Bruce Everiss which is always a bad sign.

If they believe anything from him, he'll have single handedly created the entire computing industry, only to have all his good ideas stolen by other companies and everything else destroyed by piracy.

Bruce is more known between speccy circles (the first chapter of his life happened a month after the cpc being launched), he is infamous for being one of the captains of that Titanic called Imagine, between a lot of things  :P

But if you google for his name, you will see a lot of fans of this idjit  :-*

I'm with TFM/FS and have to admit I don't recall ever hearing about him either, maybe his name just doesn't stick with me - I'm sure he has been mentioned in Retro Gamer but I don't remember.....

Still from what everyone is saying about him on the web, not knowing about him sounds like an advantageous position!
