Oh it's possible and the idea was floated nearly three decades ago, but there won't be a significant number of examples "in the wild". =-)

i've never used the drive CPU for anything apart from loading data personally and, off the top of my head at least, can't think of many real world cases where it'd be faster to ship code and/or data to the drive, occasionally check for a flag to say it's done and pull the results back that wouldn't be significantly more efficient if everything were done locally. That's why i asked for examples really, i'd like to see what others have come up with!
