Well, it's a bit pixelly, and not really the same game as you don't move around the rooms, although the atmosphere still appears to be there!
But, this is one way to achieve the game on 8-bits - have each area as a static screen, dump the moving characters, but keep the objects and actions and conversations.
Next step, remove the graphics and make each location a nice text description...
This reminds me of one of my final projects before I stopped using my Amstrad for a decade or so....
I started to write a text adventure version of the first Monkey Island game on the CPC - I don't think I got too far though, perhaps I should restart that (or there's a slim chance I've still got it on a disc somewhere!)
Heh...kinda cute. Though, as the author himself mentions, it can be tricky to figure out what is going on. Maybe that could be another puzzle layer :)
