Hello all

I don't know how many here use Arkos Tracker 2, but I'm happy to tell you that I've added the AKS format to IndieGameMusic.com now - and added 10 of my own tracks there too. It has resulted in a new column called "Chiptunes", residing next to "Streamed" and "Modules" and "MIDI".

Here are some AKS tracks of mine you probably haven't heard before (tracked in STarKos on my CPC464 a while back):

"Chillin' in my mind" - https://indiegamemusic.com/viewtrack.php?id=4120
"Jammin'" - https://indiegamemusic.com/viewtrack.php?id=4117
"Pixelated Landscape" - https://indiegamemusic.com/viewtrack.php?id=4115

If you decide to add your own AKS tracks on the site, it's a good idea to also add an mp3 or ogg version. Some gamedevs on newer platforms also prefer chiptunes for their games and don't mind using a streamed format for it.

Slight change of plans.

After a lot of research and thoughts, I ended up adding one new "filetype" called "chip" instead of the AKS format.

This "filetype" then allows for any kind of chip music for any kind of system.

To tell which system the track is compatible with, I have added the following tags that you apply to the file:

Compatible with Amstrad CPC
Compatible with Apple 2
Compatible with Atari ST
Compatible with C64 / C128
Compatible with MSX
Compatible with NEC PC-Engine/TurboGrafx-16
Compatible with Nintendo NES
Compatible with Oric
Compatible with Sega Genesis / Mega Drive
Compatible with Sega Master System
Compatible with Sharp MZ-700
Compatible with Vectrex
Compatible with ZX Spectrum

So, if you create an AKS file, you just link to the AKS and mark the 8 tags that applies for this format.

I hope you will help out homebrew gamedevs on these systems by adding some of your tracks at www.IndieGameMusic.com
It is a free service for both gamedevs and musicians. Has been for over a decade. You have a chance for earning a little pocket money by setting a non-exclusive resale license fee or even an exclusive resale license fee for gamedevs who wants to make their game commercial. But most of the time you'll probably want to offer the freeware license, which means you're offering gamedevs to use your music for free of charge as long as their game is also free of charge.

Thanks for your time!

P.S.: If you can think of other retro platforms that ought to be on the list, please let me know. But consider that newer ones aren't listed because a lot of them often use MODs.
