Title: did i damage my mega drive 3rd party jpad?
Post by: megaloser on 19:01, 21 May 20
Greetings, an odd thing to post on here, i tried to replace a 9 pin mega drive wire with a 9 pin extension cable. cutting it short (no pun) i definitely wired the wrong cables onto the wrong holes, times multiple and when connected the joypad registered a continuous signal, sometimes it was right and sometimes it was down, no buttons were pressed. no other input can be registered.
did i shortcurcuit my joypad? there is no visible damage on the board, save for a few slim marks and scratches, possibly age related.
there is a microchip on the board, too.

If you connected the 5V line to the wrong pin it may have damaged your controller, any other pin swap would cause strange effects, but no permanent damage.
