Hi All,

I am considering setting up a Family orientated Retro Game day in the local community centre here in the west of Ireland. Below is thepost I made to the Amiga-IE facebook page about it. Although I know this is a LONG way for many (if not most) of the frequent posters here I was wondering if there would be any interest at all from the CPC community.

Obviously It will have a high CPC content being as that is the Platform I have most hardware for!

Anyway thoughts and suggestions please I need to know if this will be feasible to setup and who, if anyone would be happy to come (The Shearwater Hotel is only 20 minutes away, and is inexpensive for a 4* hotel)

Thanks

Craig]

Family Retro Game day,
In the light of todays successful event in Athlone, I am thinking of doing a familiy orientated Retro Game day possibly in September, Get the kiddies into PacMan ;)
I can provide use of the following sytems
Amstrad GX4000 + C4CPC flash cart
Amstrad 6128Plus + C4CPC flash cart and HxC Floppy Emulator
Amstrad CPC 6128
Sega Megadrive 2 (10mhz Overclock) + Fake chinese Everdrive
Amiga 1200 & 600 (Obviously)
Sega 32X + Mega Everdrve V2 flash cart
Sega Dreamcast (Loads of Original and "backup" games)
Microsoft Xbox (Original) chipped and games installed on HDD
MAME

My Questions to the group are.....
What would you be willing to pay for access to play *with friends and family) on these systems for a day, I have to cover hall rental and food) and also woudl anyone consider bringing their own retro systems (and TV's) to the event for a reduced ticket price?
If I am packing all those systems it will have to be closer to me than Athlone so I was thinking of the Brand New Community Centre in Caltra How many people would be happy to travel thet little bit further from Dublin (It's about 30 minutes more from today's venue in Athlone)?
Assuming I can get the centre for reasonable price I was thinking of €15 admission per family (Max 5 people - Any age) with a 50% reduction if you bring a system ready to play with you, would anyone be interested?
Let me know so I can see if the numbers add up and if so set a date.
Craig

Edit: Obviously I'd be keen if people could bring systems not already in my list above, so in particular...
C64 / C128
Sinclair Spectrum
NES
SNES
Atari 8 bit (I realy want to play RGB - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_nvkPuLrBSk
)
Atari ST / Falcon - No really!!
Sega Saturn
PS1/PSX
PS2

I think that is a really great idea! I would be willing to collaborate if I was not living in London, so far away  :)

Not promising anything, but I will probably be in Dublin in September, so if the date overlap I would consider coming down for the day.

Will it be like back in the day where you played a 4 player game of Chuckie Egg, and one person (me) was better than everyone else and went for 10+ levels without dying, and the others got impatient waiting for their go and ultimately sabotage me so I die? Which then caused a fight, and the CPC being packed away under the stairs for a month?

Did that actually happen for real?  :-\

By level 4 I'd already have got fed up and pulled the plug on you! :D

Yeah, when we got a Game Boy we were allowed to play Tetris for one game each until we got a game over. I was made to go last, everyone else was on it for a couple of minutes, I was on it for about 30.

Lol. Memories! But yeah, a recreation of that would be perfect!
