Got a massive haul of retro stuff today and included was a Thomson MO5 NR.
I'd never heard of it before and there's not a lot online about them but apparently it's a French computer from the 80s that was popular in schools but ultimately lost out to the CPC in the home.
Unfortunately I don't have a PSU so can't test it. Does anybody know anything about them or is interested in it?

I had the "upper" model at school (TO7 70)... Nothing really sexy, even at the times but it was my first contact with computer. Macdeath has a technical wall of text ready to be posted i think

Heh, this thing had a 6809e @1MHz, 128KB base memory, 64K ROM, a separate 16K VRAM, but considering its "serious" purpose it only sported a 40x25 text mode...

So you're Corgi74? ;)

I think the NR had an AC Power supply, but I can't remember exactly. I fixed one once (looong time ago) and I think I remember using an Acorn Electron (17VAC) PSU to power it. Why don't you keep it? It's a nice machine.

I would consider @MacDeath to be our local Thomson expert, maybe he can tell you more?

If it's the same setup as the Elk, you can run it on a 9v DC supply with no ill effects at all.

Not sure if 9VDC would work, it depends how the regulation inside the computer was done and I can't remember.
