I started a wikipage on this range of computer.

there may be some old topics in the forum where I already talked about those.
I think it is quite interesting as some generations of those were basically largely comparable to our dear Amstrad CPcs.
Sadly those japanese machines are not well known in english speaking world and my japanese is rusty (= non-existent)

Would be great if some of you could get more facts and reliable informations on those.
Also I'm quite sur it is possible to port games between CPC and NEC PC6001/6601 mk2...
The same way games were ported into Enterprises64/128 from CPC (and sadly speccy).

Funny : the palette.

yeah... quite original indeed.
found it there :

the "mk2" colours... I google translated the page.

It is basically the CPC palette minus all dark and pastel colours. and a second "black" being actually a transparency channel for video overlay over TV-video as available on Thomson MO5/TO7 and MSX1 computers, explaining why those machines had only 15 colours instead of 16.

the Wikipage :
NEC PC-6xx1 - CPCWiki

I guess it should be renamed NEC PC-6000 perhaps.
I'm sorry, I fail to handle CPCwiki's new editing iterface... it sucks compared to before IMHO.

Could someone add pictures from the range ? they may be findable on the net.

Also any comments welcomed.

Any good games for this platform?

I Googled but couldn't find much information...

That DragonQuest game would be a suitable Amstrad CPC Porting target ... if someone could translate the text, that is!

I guess many classic JRPG wre produced on those computers.

No wonder graphics can be greatly upgraded due to the superior CPC palette.

Fun to see how they use the 4 colours mode, as they lack dark or bright colours. the 4-palettes are quite exotic and rarely used on CPC, despite being available.

Ok I found the old topic I did :
Nec PC6001 and Nec PC6601

This palette was never really used on CPC, was it ?
