For the first time in my life I have made a map for a game (Rambo 3) as I'm not very good at remembering my way and where items are.
To be honest I never even thought about creating maps as kid, but it's something I wish I had of done as I would of got so much more out of certain games through doing it.

I've just been doing by hand onto graph paper but was wondering what other methods people use?
I seem to remember reading about somebody using a tablet, how does this work, do you just take photos of each screen or something?
I would imagine taking screen shots would be the easiest way, not something I could do though as I don't use emulators.

Yeah, screenshots or old magazines... Rambo 3 map is already out there, but if you ever do finish the map, please don't hesitate to share [emoji12] I actually really liked Rambo 3, had lots of different playable elements to it.

Ive only done the 1st level so far but yeah it seems like a really good game. I did think about googling for a map but thought I'd give it a go myself and I'm actually really enjoying doing it.

That's awesome, I wouldn't mind taking a look [emoji3]

No problem. It's really untidy and roughly done at the moment though on several bits of paper but I'll get it drawn up neatly onto one piece and you can take look.

You should do it in Microsoft Visio, that would look great...

Nice. There's something very nice about hand drawn game maps that you just don't get from ones made from pasted together screenshots, it's just a very nostalgic thing I guess. Takes me back to some of the scrawled maps in old maths exercise books (a handy source of squared paper) that I used to draw for adventure games and the like.

Great work on the map!

Takes me back to when I hand-drew maps of Jet Set Willy and Sabre Wulf (I really wish I still had those...)
It was indeed a lot of fun to create the maps, and really made those games even more special than they already were.

Around 13 years ago I made a map for Sweevo's World, but I ended up "converting" that to a large image, in MS Paint.
I've attached the map, if anyone is interested.  8)

Ah, thems were the days!
