Title: New Blu-Play game in development: "The UFO Game!"
Post by: mr_lou on 05:51, 08 July 19
Gotta have a fun relaxing sparetime project going on that I can work on a little bit every now and then.  :)
Currently, this project is "The UFO Game!": A new Blu-Play homebrew game for PlayStation 4. (See http://www.blu-play.com (http://www.blu-play.com))

Strongly inspired by the 38 year old game "Satellite Attack" for the Philips Videopac G7000. (Which also means "UFO!" for the Magnavox Odessey2).

Classic Game Room does a good presentation of that game in this video:

And here is a WIP video of my "modern" version:

Main target is PlayStation 4, but it'll also run on PlayStation 3 and standard Blu-ray players using a remote control.
For standard Blu-ray players, since you can only press a single button at a time on a remote control, you can use number keys for controls:
1 = LEFT + UP + FIRE
2 = UP + FIRE
3 = RIGHT + UP + FIRE
4 = LEFT + FIRE
...and so on. You get the idea.  :)

It's not playable on software players like VLC yet, because the current version of libbluray fires KEY_PRESSED and KEY_RELEASED at the same time, despite not actually having released the key yet. But this will be fixed in future libbluray 1.2.0
