Bluetooth ZX Spectrum: Recreating the Sinclair ZX Spectrum by Elite Systems Ltd (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/952953995/1706707152?token=178af0ea)
A British computer games company has started a crowd fund raising scheme to finance the development of a ZX Spectrum clone.
The Sinclair ZX Spectrum was the most popular personal computer sold in the UK in the 1980s, and while officially sold for other purposes, was by far and away vastly more popular as a games machine.
The recreated Sinclair ZX Spectrum will be a Bluetooth keyboard, initially for iOS and subsequently for Android and Windows phones and tablets (as well as for PCs and Macs), in the form-factor of a 48K Sinclair ZX Spectrum.
The Bluetooth ZX Spectrum will connect wirelessly to, for example, an iPad and in turn to a TV via Apple Airplay.
The games company, Elite says that it is looking to raise £60,000 to develop the prototype and the first 1,000 units for sale.
The Bluetooth ZX Spectrum is expected to have an end-user price of between £39.99 and £49.99 (plus delivery) and initially will be available for purchase online-only.
