Back in the day, I used to create a lot of Amiga mods. Then moved onto much more channels.
Recently I've been looking into MODs again, mostly because it's the only kind of project I have time to actually complete. But also because I've actually sold at least 30 licenses for MOD files on IndieGameMusic.com - and such things are of course motivating. I don't know what it is about MOD that gamedevs like. I would have thought XM would be more interesting, but apparently not.
I think it's partly because many of the old platforms can handle MODs. One of the gamedevs who's bought licenses from me is working on a game for the Atari Jaguar for example.
So here are some recent Amiga mods I've made, to anyone interested. mp3 versions available for most of them.
"Final Break (Secession III)" - https://indiegamemusic.com/viewtrack.php?id=4101
"Amiga" - https://indiegamemusic.com/viewtrack.php?id=4108
"Calm down" - https://indiegamemusic.com/viewtrack.php?id=4124
"I won!" - https://indiegamemusic.com/viewtrack.php?id=4125
"New code" - https://indiegamemusic.com/viewtrack.php?id=4137
Listen in full stereo, meaning 100% channel separation.
Another little Amiga MOD I did today.
"Scifi Theme" - https://indiegamemusic.com/viewtrack.php?id=4279
Listen in full stereo, meaning 100% channel separation.
New track up now. "Coco Pops". :)
https://indiegamemusic.com/viewtrack.php?id=4444
...and a good morning to you too :)
And another one released today. :)
"The Escape" - https://www.indiegamemusic.com/4450
And another release today. :)
"Gearing up" - https://indiegamemusic.com/4556
With focus on filter-emulation - and only 80 kb (for the MOD version).
Well my previous track only got to be on the site for a couple of days before I sold a license, and such things always inspire me to make more tracks. :)
So here is "Spooky Dungeon" - https://www.indiegamemusic.com/4609 (https://www.indiegamemusic.com/4609)
Recently I learned that the official Nintendo 64 SDK supports MIDI+soundfont, so in my quest to support as many (retro) platforms as possible, I've started making MIDI+SF2 versions of my tracks too.
Any other interesting formats I should look at? Import the MOD version into Arkos Tracker 2 and make a CPC version too every time? ;D
Weird thing about "Spooky Dungeon": I almost didn't put it online because I didn't think it was anything special, and I wasn't quite happy with it. But I did anyway, and then I got the most positive feedback from everywhere I've gotten in a long time.
Lesson learned: Don't decide yourself if your creative works is good or not. That's for other people to decide.
What does the opening melody remind me of? I can't quite place it....
Enjoyed the track, the bass was epic with headphones on.

No idea. :)
But good luck producing anything nowadays that doesn't remind someone of something. ;)
Thanks for the positive feedback!
New track: "Thanks for the ride"
https://indiegamemusic.com/4620
i used to know a guy called kevin who used to compose music on the amiga
i tried once but i wasn't very good
im not very musical but he would make such brilliant music
and it did all the instruments like he was a composer . it was very impressive stuff .
Nice! I have to have a listen.. And congrats on getting your music sold and used. That must be really neat :)
What Tracker are u using ?
Remember the old days beginning with Sountracker down to Future Composer and all that stuff, recently playing around with MilkyTracker on OS4, lots of fun but I nearly get no mod finished

I'm using Milkytracker, despite actually buying Renoise some years back.
I just find the challenge with the limitations more fun, and I also prefer being able to create and offer the oldschool formats rather than just mp3.

Thanks. Yea, any kind of interest in my music is a great motivator to make more music. :)
And it's also very interesting: I sometimes put tracks on IGM that I don't think is anything special, but then ends up becoming some of the most popular tracks of mine.
Just proves that you shouldn't judge your own stuff yourself. Just put it out there, then let gamedevs decide.
Another new track; "Infected Perspective" - https://indiegamemusic.com/4630
And yet another track!
"Rise" - https://indiegamemusic.com/4632
Not sure what's going on these days. I haven't been this active and inspired for 20 years. I used to be very active with the music up till year 2000. Then I had a 5-year long forced break, due to school and such. Never thought I'd be productive like that again.
Of course it helps that it's the summer holidays.... ;)
New track out today: "The Prophecy" - https://indiegamemusic.com/4740
HQ MP3/OGG versions available, but also an Amiga MOD version.
Niiiice one! Took me back :)
And another one today: "Rest now" - https://indiegamemusic.com/4746
Ambient relaxing stuff.
New track again: "Unshackled" - https://indiegamemusic.com/4767
Uplifting synthpop'ish MOD, XM, MP3/OGG.
Another new track: "Dawn in the village" - https://indiegamemusic.com/4832
New track again: "Riding The Skyway" - https://indiegamemusic.com/4842
As usual, available in a MOD version, XM version, MIDI+SF2 version, and of course MP3/OGG and WAV. :)
Very nice! Good to see someone get their mojo back too, gives me hope.
But .. no AY version? :p :D

Have actually thought about including an AKS version of my tracks too, as well as a Sega Genesis one.
Arkos Tracker 2 can import MOD. Then "just" edit instruments and such from there.
But I gotta draw the line somewhere. :) Otherwise you can keep going forever.
It takes a lot of time to make these conversions, despite having tools that does most of the work. And while I actually get requests for MOD files from both Amiga and Atari devs, so far only single CPC dev has requested an AKS, and then found out he didn't want Arkos Tracker 2 format.
So I feel my current workflow supporting MOD, XM, MIDI+SF2 is good enough.
I used to make plain MIDI versions too, but since J2ME died no one has been interested in those anymore.
Another new track released just now: "Sunset Rebels".
https://indiegamemusic.com/4890
New track released just now: "Cosy Vibes" - https://indiegamemusic.com/4999
Two new tracks from me. :)
"Ice Caverns" - https://indiegamemusic.com/5047
and
"Sneaky Chick" - https://indiegamemusic.com/5052
"Sneaky Chick" is a small track I did today to test a new old trick that I only learned about a few days ago: Create 14-bit quality in an 8-bit MOD.
There are two versions you can download; a normal 8-bit version (https://indiegamemusic.com/diskspace/mr_lou/Sneaky%20Chick.mod), and a 14-bit simulated version (https://indiegamemusic.com/diskspace/mr_lou/Sneaky%20Chick%2014bit.mod).
The difference is in the noise-level of the bass sample. The biggest problem with 8-bit audio: Noise on bass samples. :)
I have never known it was possible to use 2 channels to produce 14-bit'ish quality. I'm absolutely blown away by the quality we can achieve with this trick. I'm having difficulties hearing the difference between real 16-bit and this 14-bit version.
It does require a player with precise timing though, for it to work. I've tested on my Amiga 1200 with Delitracker, EaglePlayer, Hippoplayer and Protracker 2.3d with succes. But Protracker 3.61 fails about 50% of the time.
Using 2 channels to do other tricks, such as emulation a lowpass or highpass filter, is something I've been doing a lot lately. And you can of course also create phaser effects etc. Who needs fancy modern DAW's? Not me. ;)
New track: "Tension" - https://indiegamemusic.com/5065
Slightly neutral trance for that action level.
Was meant to be another 14-bit MOD, but thing changed along the way.
Another track up now: "
Happy Sunrise"
https://indiegamemusic.com/5098
This time I was trying to meet the requirements from Amiga devs who's been complaining my MODs were too big - and that there weren't any room for sound effects.
But also want to produce "quality", so I made 3 MOD versions this time.
- High-quality 14-bit version
- High-quality 8-bit version
- Low-quality 8-bit version (smaller filesize)
Channel 4 can be interrupted in all versions for sound-effects.
Put another one online today: "No More Continues"
https://indiegamemusic.com/5117
Downtempo relaxing melancholic track, available as
- 8-bit MOD
- 14-bit MOD
- 16-bit XM
- 44100hz 16-bit MP3/OGG
- 48000hz 16-bit WAV
Take your pick! :)
Another one today: "Victorious"
https://indiegamemusic.com/5128
"Daydreamer" - https://indiegamemusic.com/5140
Easy listening, trying to make a pianoballad'ish thingy in a MOD.
