Multiple choice educational software from 1985.

"It will help with little Johnny's classes!" :D

Funny stuff: "attempts at copying will destroy the program. Piracy will result in prosecution."

Watch out, we've got a badass here :D

A nice attempt at FUD there by School Software. My parents bought a few of their programs for me when I was young. I can't remember if I paid any attention to the piracy warning but my knowledge of the internal workings of the CPC was almost non-existent at that time. :laugh:

And why does most educational software have to look so ugly?! At least they made an effort with The Three Bears but nearly all of their other programs have terrible so-called 'graphics'!

To be fair this one is a very early program, still exploring the novelty of interactive multiple choice questions 😄

MENU.BAS was probably was Protected BASIC file originally, so breaking into deletes (or destroys) the contents in memory, so another programme was used to unprotect that Protected BASIC file, which allows you to Load and List it.

MENU1.BAS is just a Loader, though it loads MENU.BAS with the correct settings (Screen Mode for example), from Disc it may seem pointless by including those things, though if it was on Tape, you're looking at 7-8 minute loading time if it was saved as SPEED WRITE 0. By comparision the MENU.BAS is 33kb, the main file Roland in Time is 32Kb and took 7 minutes to load at SPEED WRITE 0, so Loading Screens are nicer than Loading MENU Block 17 for example.  :D

Another observation I noticed in this, is the writing which is characteristic of the writing found in some of David Muir's Games from 1985 Fish Pond, Gunboats & perhaps Man O' War:

Maybe there was an App back then that created that I don't know.
* Using the old Amstrad Languages :D   * with the Firmware :P
* I also like to problem solve code in BASIC :)   * And type-in Type-Ins! :D
