Your CPC does speak to you! Do you prefer...

a male voice
a female voice
something else, explain...

This is the question! Please participate in the poll.  :)
(I ask this in particular for the new FutureOS update, but it's of general interest of course).

No problem, even under BASIC just enter !HAL9000 for a quote  :)

i rather like the voices of numbers 1 to 4 in short circuit.  or the speech synthesis in Dasboot? (or is it a vocoder?)

Well technically, it's just a voice waveform added to a square wave. If that's what you like, go listen to Revolutions (1988) from Jean Michel Jarre. I remember building a small circuit to do this when the song came out (and annoying the sh*t out of anyone I could with it).

Bryce.

Yes, as you told me via Email. And I still owe you the answer, because... all that making of videos is just not that easy. First one needs some kind of equipment... well, at the moment I lack it. But we'll see what can be done...  :)

Now 7:5 for female. You can listen to a female voice using LambdaSpeak III and the recent FutureOS, for example press I, O or C hotkeys. By altering a bit in ROM A you can switch over to a male voice. If you're interested let me know, then I can tell you how it's done.

For LS3 you can also use the !SETVOICE,v command to use voice (v) from 1 to 13. Tell me which one(s) you like.  :)

EDIT: Alter the byte &1E in ROM A to &1C, then it speaks male instead of female. Address is &C114.
