Quote from: llopis on 14:44, 12 December 22What's even better, is that I changed my exporter to export column-order tiles in that order (0 1 3 2 6 7 5 4), and now I'm also using that in the sprite column drawing function and it's super fast.
Thank you!
Cool! Good to know it was helpful.  :)

Quote from: llopis on 17:19, 12 December 22Interesting. I think that's what we used to call "compiled sprites" back on the MS-DOS/Mode 13h days. I definitely don't have enough room for that though. It's already bad enough that I'm storing tiles in row and column format. But we'll see.

I find it can still be worth using compiled sprites (what I still call them!) for small things like score and other character updates on a score panel, or small sprites like bullets, even if the larger sprites are handled more traditionally.  It might only save a couple of scan lines, but who wants to spend more scan lines than they have to updating the score! ;)
